CPR/AED/BLS Instructor course is 9 hour classroom course that includes teaches individuals to to teach others CPR and how to use the AED. This course is ideal for PE teachers and nurse coordinators. A strong desire teach and encourage others.
Upon completion of instructor course you will be able to teach daycares,Healthcare providers* schools, and first aid classes*(additional fee for first aid DVD)
Prerequisites:
1 Professional level CPR Course (current card)
2 Recommendation letter student is willing to teach or has teaching background
3 A strong desire teach and encourage others.
Once you are accepted into the course you will receive an instructor packet. Next take the core CORE course(computer based) that will be sent to you with your packet. Take the one day course in our office. Lastly teach a CPR class under supervision within 3 months of instructor class.
American Heart Association Instructors may choose to instruct courses in more than one discipline by completing the following steps:
1. Consult with your Training Center Coordinator (TCC) about the discipline you are interested in adding to your instructor status. Depending on the Training Center’s instructor capacity for that discipline, you may want to consult with another Training Center.
2. Complete the American Heart Association Provider course in the discipline.
3. If you have not completed the Core Instructor Course, contact your TCC regarding the course format and how to obtain access to the course.
4. Complete the discipline-specific Instructor course. Contact your TCC for course schedules or use the ECC Class Connector to locate a course in your area.
5. Be monitored by Training Center Faculty instructing a provider course(s).
6. Confirm with your TCC that you are aligned for the new discipline, and update your instructor status on the Instructor Network website to reflect your new instructor discipline status.
7. AHA Instructor card is not issued until all requirements are completed.
